Accelerated Master’s Degree in Global Security Leadership

Undergraduate students at UM who are interested in graduate study in Global Security Leadership can get a head start through the Accelerated Master’s Degree Program.

Undergraduate students who would like to qualify for the Accelerated Master's Degree Program must meet the following requirements:

  • 3.0 minimum GPA
  • 90 completed credit hours as an undergraduate

Number of credit hours a student can earn towards the graduate degree while completing their undergraduate studies:

  • 15 credit hours (no more than 6 hours per term)

Courses undergraduate students in the Accelerated Master's Degree Program can take to earn credit towards the graduate degree:

  • ISS 6100: National Security Strategy
  • ISS 6110: Russia and Global Security
  • ISS 6120: European Security
  • ISS 6130: Middle Eastern & African Security
  • ISS 6140: China and Global Security
  • ISS 6300: Intelligence and Global Security
  • ISS 6310: Intelligence in the 21st Century
  • ISS 6320: Technology and Intelligence
  • ISS 6330: Law Enforcement Intelligence
  • ISS 6340: Counterintelligence
  • ISS 6500: War, Conflict, and Global Security
  • ISS 6510: Emerging Technology and the Future of War
  • ISS 6520: Terrorism, Insurgency, and Global Security
  • ISS 6530: Economic, Environmental, & Health Security
  • ISS 6540: Climate Security
  • ISS 6700: Overview of Cyber Policy
  • ISS 6710: Cyber Threats and Trends
  • ISS 6720: Developing a Cyber Strategy
  • ISS 6730: Cyber and the Military Element of Power
  • ISS 6740: Cyber Law and National Security

Remember: Students enrolled for the graduate credit in a 5500- to 5999-level course must complete the graduate work.  Should they decide they do not wish to do so, they need to work with the instructor, their dean's office, and the Registrar to change their enrollment to the appropriate undergraduate course number.  Otherwise, they will be graded based on the criteria for the graduate course number.
