Graduate Student Wellness

We want graduate students to be aware of the services available such as the health center, counseling center, recreational facilities, and other amenities across campus.

Welcome to the Graduate Student Wellness

We want to enhance the graduate student experience so we've gathered all the necessary student resources in one place. The page is meant to support students to make healthy choices and achieve wellness physically and mentally.

  • Whatever you need to make your time as a graduate student at the University of Mississippi the best it could possibly be, you'll find it here.

If you're interested in getting more involved across campus, you can also find information about student organizations so you can grow your UM family.

Graduate Student Wellness Resources and Organizations

Explore the various resources we have collected for your convenience.

Within the United States, there is now a national number for mental health crises. It’s 9-8-8! More information can be found here.

Individuals are also able to call 9-1-1 in case of emergency (this number is useful if requiring immediate medical attention).

The Campus CRED app is a way for students to reflect on their lives through daily journals, track long term patters and habits, and connect with other memebers of the UM community.

Mental Health First Aid is a course that teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders.

The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.

Both of these campus recreation centers offer many fitness and activity options, including rock climbing, pickle ball, group classes, and more.  The Outdoors program offers adventure trips, gear rental, and the Rebel challenge course.  Another opportunity is intramural sports, which offer options for everyone to get involved.

The Magee Center strives to improve student lives through education, research, and support. At the center, there are many forms of wellness, and a consultation on a specific need is available for scheduling.

A variety of counseling services are offered, including individual and group sessions, for diverse mental health concerns using a brief therapy model.  Services for graduate students are free and confidential.

Next, LAMBDA is a student support group for those that are members of the LGBQTIA+ community. The goal is to provide a safe environment for disclosure and to help develop positive coping strategies that can be used to navigate adjustments and challenges.

Those interested, or with  questions, should email lambdaolemiss@gmail.com.
