Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition Guidelines
The Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is a research communication competition developed by the University of Queensland, Australia. The exercise challenges higher degree students to present a compelling oration on their research thesis topic and its significance in just three minutes and allows them to use one Power Point slide.
3MT® develops academic, presentation, and research communication skills and supports the development of research students’ capacity to effectively explain their research in language appropriate to a non-specialist audience. This skill is critical for all graduate students across all academic disciplines.
A team of judges (not from the discipline) will determine the winners. The competition will be open to both masters and doctoral students.
Several masters-level and doctoral winners will be selected, as well as a grand prize winner. The grand prize winner from the University of Mississippi will receive a paid trip to the CSGS final 3MT® competition in Fayetteville, Arkansas in February 2018.
We will have training session on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 6pm at the Jackson Avenue Center.
The first round of competition will be held on October 26, 2017 in the Yerby Center. You must be registered to present. Deadline to register is October 9, 2017.
